THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
The design of this highly collectible completely restored Emerson Bullseye from 1938 has been attributed to Alexis de Sakhnoffsky, who also designed the Emerson "Mae West" model BD-197. The case was made by the Ingraham Cabinet Company of Bristol CT, who had developed an outstanding capability for making beautiful cabinets in complex shapes, describing the process as "Stay-Bent" construction. This case has walnut veneer with four inlay red stripes across the top and sides of the cabinet. The original purchase price of the radio was $19.95. Emerson claimed in their advertising for the radio that it used "a miracle sound chamber, that equalizes and naturalizes tone throughout the room." The radio incorporates a five-tube super-heterodyne chassis, and it plays as good as it looks. There is a perfect replacement back on the set, and it has its original knobs and Ingraham tag on the bottom. A midget at 9-1/2"W x 5"H x 5"D. |
