RCA 66X8 Catalin (1946)
(Catalin tube table radio w/SW)

RCA 66X8 Catalin (1946)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Beautiful RCA 1946 oxblood red 66X8 Catalin radio. This radio has the distinction of being the largest Catalin radio ever manufactured. The good news is that RCA engineers recognized all the problems of previous Catalin cabinets, like shrinking and cracking, so they made this case especially thick. The oxblood red swirled Catalin cabinet is heavily marbleized with tones of yellow and orange that add depth to an already stunning radio. It is affectionately known among collectors as the RCA "Tuna Boat," although I think the "Queen Mary" would have been a better nickname! The radio cabinet has a super nice gloss to it. The cabinet is in superb condition with no cracks, chips, tube burns or repairs. The three knobs are original to the radio. The back is a perfect replacement, even in the original red color. It also retains the original glass dial and manufacturers sticker on the bottom. The chassis has been checked by a professional and the radio is picking up all my local AM stations clearly. It does have a short wave band, but not much to pick up. The size is about 15"L x 9"H x 7"D.
