DeWald A-502 Catalin "Step Top" (1946)
(Catalin tube table radio)

DeWald A-502 Catalin "Step Top" (1946)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Catalin eye candy in a rare and beautiful butterscotch cabinet and marbleized brown insert grille, manufactured by DeWald Radio Manufacturing Corp of New York. The "Step-Top" name given to the radio is a result of the shoulders on the right and left of the top. Many descriptions of this radio describe it with a 1938-1939 date, while other experts attribute it to 1946. I tend to think it is was a post-War model, as FADA and DeWald were the two companies most active in Catalin radio production after 1945. The butterscotch Catalin cabinet has beautiful rich color. It's is in original condition, and is a super example of this model. This beautiful case is in great condition with no cracks, chips, tube burns or repairs, about as close to mint condition you can get. The butterscotch pinwheel knobs and insert grille are original to the radio and are perfect. The DeWald dial glass is in great condition, and the cardboard back panel and part of the model sticker are still present. The chassis has been completely checked by a professional, and the radio is playing clearly; the dial lamp is also working. Truly a remarkable radio in excellent condition. About 10"W x 6-1/2"H x 6"D.
