Stromberg Carlson was a telecommunications equipment and electronics manufacturing company formed in 1894 as a partnership between Alfred Stromberg and Androv Carlson. It was one of five companies that controlled the national supply of telephone equipment until after World War II. Originally founded to manufacture telephones, the Stromberg-Carlson company also produced radio components, and began selling their own complete sets during the early 1920s. This "Dynatomic" model, offered from the late 1940's until the early 1950's, was one of their most popular sets in Deco styling and superior performance. Almost all the 1500 models came in brown Bakelite or ivory painted Bakelite. But a few cases were manufactured in red maroon Bakelite. This Dynamic model is not a painted case, it is red maroon Bakelite and in mint condition. There are no cosmetic issues, and the chassis has been gone over completely with everything changed out that was out of tolerance. The set plays great, picking up all my local AM station and many distant stations at night. It has its original back and knobs. In color, they don't get much better than this. About 11-1/2"W x 8"H x 6-1/2"D. |
