Philco 46-350 Tambour Door Portable (1946)
(wood tube portable radio)

Philco 46-350 Tambour Door Portable (1946)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This post-War Philco was a very popular picnic portable in its day. It's a six-tube set, so consequently the reception across the AM band is quite good. Most of the leather handles on the top had a very hard time surviving over the years, but this strap is in excellent condition. It's a good rule to never pick up an antique radio by its handle no matter how good it looks! The radio features a beautiful wood and leatherette finish in good condition, with a tambour sliding door to cover the dial (like a roll top desk). It is a battery and AC radio, but the batteries are expensive and hard to locate. When the power cord is run through a notch in the back cover, the radio is automatically converted to AC. The set has been checked but a professional and is playing fine, picking up all my local AM stations. This radio was a major seller for Philco at $45.95, quite a bit of money for 1946. About 12"W x 9"H x 5"D.
