THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
An oval shaped Art Deco 1937 McMurdo Silver AM/SW in beautiful refinished condition. McMurdo Silver was a 1930's polo player, gun collector, bon vivant and radio genius. He was President of Silver-Marshall, Inc. before he set up the McMurdo Silver Corp. in Chicago in the 1930's. The chassis has been completely rebuilt replacing all worn out resistors and capacitors, and the radio is playing very well, picking up all my local AM station with an extended antenna wire (no loop antennas in 1937!). The S/W band is the old Police Band that Dick Tracy used, so not anything to listen to today. New line cord and new grille cloth. The knobs are original. The Art Deco oval shape is really striking. About 15"W x 9"H x 8"D. |
