THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
This 1942 Zenith with a "boomerang" style dial was one of Zenith's last manufacturing runs before switching over to WW II production. Wonderful case design by Robert Budlong, one of Zenith's most prolific designers. Two front butterscotch knobs with original grille cloth. This case is in beautiful professionally refinished condition. No veneer issues, no splits or other problems. A nice Retro-Tronics back is in place. Twin dial lamps. The radio is playing very well, picking up all my local AM stations. The chassis has been gone over by a pro, replacing everything that needed replacing. It's interesting that the chassis for this set is the same chassis as the Zenith 6-D-614 "Darth Vader" radio. This radio picked up all WW II broadcasts from Europe and the Pacific theaters. A great piece of history. About 12-1/2"W x 7-1/2"H x 6-1/2"D. |
