| The year 1939 produced some great case designs, and this Zenith is no exception. It is an icon of the Art Deco period. It was designed by Robert Budlong, one of Zenith's most prolific engineers, and it is a classic must have in any radio collection. The radio has to its credit an appearance in one of MGM's "Babes in Arms" movies, staring Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland. This Franciscan brown set originally sold for $14.95. It was sold with a gold dial which was more common. This dial is the harder to find dark dial. The case is in very nice condition, with no cracks, chips or major cosmetic issues. One tiny line on one of the ribs, hard to see. It has been checked by a pro and plays fine, no annoying filter hum with just a short antenna wire. It has a nice Retro-Tronics replacement back on the set. About 10-1/2"W x 6-1/2"H x 7"D. |
