THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
This is a nice working Zenith table radio from 1938. This model shares the same escutcheon as the Zenith "World's Fair Glass Rod" radio, model 5-R-317. It's a five-tube AC transformer-type radio (tubes are 6A8G, 6K7G, 6Q7G, 6K6G, and 6X5G). Controls are Off/On/Volume, Tuning, and five pushbuttons (four presets and one dial button). The pushbuttons have not been set to any stations. The radio works well, receiving local stations with just a short antenna wire from the back of the radio, but a little better reception with a longer length of wire attached to it. The case has been professionally refinished in toning lacquers to take it back to its original appearance in the Zenith showroom in 1938. The grille cloth is a Zenith reproduction, and the case has a Retro-Tronics back in place. A very beautiful escutcheon and great looking Deco dial numbers. About 13-1/2"W x 8"H x 6"D. |
