THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
A very rare Philco in a beautiful swirled mint Bakelite case. Only 4,500 were made. Perfect undamaged condition, no cosmetic issues at all. A perfect Retro-Tronics back on the set. Great Deco front louvered design. The 1939 dial faces just showed the "Transitone" name without any mention of Philco, which was characteristic of sets produced following Philco's buy-out of Sandusky Simplex Corp. These 1939 Philco dials & dial pointers also incorporated the symbols of the 1939 New York World's Fair, the Trylon & Perisphere. The radio is playing very well with no annoying filter hum, even better with its antenna wire laid out. I don't believe you will ever find one in better condition. A compact size at 9-3/4"W x 6-1/2"H x 4-1/2"D. |
