Philco 41-226 "Sled" (1941)
(wood tube table radio)

Philco 41-226 "Sled" (1941)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This attractive and very collectible pre-War Philco table radio, better known as the "Sled," was introduced in the summer of 1940 for the 1941 season. Its introductory selling price was $27.50. The cabinet is in beautiful condition, with gorgeous wood inlays. There are no splits or lifting. The Tenite escutcheon usually has some warpage, but the escutcheon on this set is in about the best condition I have seen. Beautiful brass escutcheon surrounds the pushbuttons. This Philco is a six-tube super-het and covers the standard broadcast and short-wave bands. It features five push-buttons for electronic tuning, with a sixth button used for on/off. The waveband switch selects between standard-broadcast, short-wave and push-button tuning. The radio is playing very well, picking up all my local am stations with no filter hum, as well as some short wave stations also. The backs are usually always missing, but this radio has its original back. About 13"W x 8"H x 6-1/2"D.
