Philco 42-323 (1942)
(wood tube table radio)

Philco 42-323 (1942)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This model was one of Philco's last production runs before switching over to wartime manufacturing. It's a wooden case with a photo-finish strip along the bottom front & side edges. The finish on the case is original with some expected crazing after 70 years. One very tiny (1/16) veneer chip on the left back top edge. Very insignificant. The glass dial has a couple of small flakes on the SW band numbers. The foreign countries are printed on the SW band. The back is a replacement, although I'm not sure this set ever had an original back, as there are no signs one was ever in place. The leatherette covering on the left and right sides, that wraps around the case to the front is in excellent condition. The swirled Tenite escutcheon is also in excellent condition, no breaks or warping. The best news is this set has been checked by a pro, and everything needing replaced was changed, and the radio really plays great, both on the AM band and the SW band. I was picking up SW stations in the middle of the day, when you can usually only pick them up at night. This is a Philco model not seen very often. About 13-1/2"W x 9"H x 8-1/2"D.
