THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

The Sparton 566 radio was nicknamed the "Bluebird." Designed by Walter Dorwin Teague, one of the most celebrated designers of the era. A example of this radio is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art as a piece of art. Performance was average at best with a compact five-tube transformer-less design and small speaker. Tuning covers AM Broadcast and shortwave. It was originally offered with an optional mirror to act as a platform or "Presentation." A copy of several 1930's starlets will be included as shown by the Shirley Temple pictured. The case has been repainted, and the chrome parts redone. The glass being 99% is original! Les has completed his repairs and the radio plays well for the limited chassis and tube count. Les added a mini-jack for your modern device input or Bluetooth receiver. The eight sided glass tray is not original to the radio, but it is a stunning match. It is beveled on all sides, and felt backed. There is one chip on the back side which is unseen. 15"H x 14"W x 7"D.
