Zenith 230 Tombstone (1933)
(wood tube tombstone radio)

Zenith 230 Tombstone (1933)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

You are looking at a rather rare and early Zenith tombstone. I have only had one other of this model before; they are very scarce and prized by collectors. I believe this to be the first one ever offered for sale on this web site. Note the detailing on the columns, on either side of the radio with dramatic effect. The radio also has an arch of what appears to be a darkly stained Birdseye Maple. The finish is terrific and factory. Clearly the radio was well cared for all of these years, as people who bought the best often cared for their possessions well. The famed "flame" Zenith speaker cloth is a fine silk reproduction, and has a stunning effect with the oversized bronze Zenette escutcheon. This radio was a deluxe model of this early era, and uses eight tubes. My tech has made complete repairs to the radio and it plays extremely well. He has added a fine silk/cotton power cord and Bakelite plug, exactly as it came from the factory, for your safe use. 19"H x 16"W x 10-1/4"D.
