General Motors "Little General" Cathedral (1932)
(wood tube cathedral radio)

General Motors "Little General" Cathedral (1932)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Here is a exceptionally original example of this classic radio. General Motors got into the radio selling business, as they had a national dealer network and, while you waited to have your car repaired, a captured audience. They did not make many models, and likely had the sets made by another factory under their name. This particular set was the top of the line cathedral. They carefully crafted the cabinet out of American Walnut. The condition of this radio is nearly perfect, factory everything, and a great finish and paper sticker on the back of the cabinet. There is such minor weakening to the grille cloth, I left it alone; it too is original and 81 years old. My technician has done a complete repair of this radio. It pays very well, as it is a six-tube TRF chassis. This type of circuit was known for getting local stations well, but distant stations take more antenna than later super-het radios. Totally a wonder addition to your collection! 19-1/2"H x 15"W x 11"D.
