THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
Wells-Gardner was a high-end factory based in New York. They were the favored maker for Montgomery Wards, and most of the limited production went into the Airline brand radios. This is a hallmark set. The use of Birdseye Maple on the crown of the radio and the ornate decorative columns, which grace the cabinet, make this a very ornate set. The condition is original, as are all of the parts. When I first saw this radio, the grille reminded me of some of the Gothic churches in Europe. Note the unusual dial and the multiple scales behind the brightly lit dial. My technician has done a complete and professional restoration This is a seven-tube radio and is a rather deluxe and powerful receiver. 17-1/2"H x 16"W x 11-1/2"D. |
