Air Castle 129 Tombstone (1938)
(wood tube tombstone radio)

Air Castle 129 Tombstone (1938)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Air Castle was the house brand for the famed Spiegel Catalogue from Chicago. They contracted like most of the other catalogue retailers, from any number of branded and contract makers. Clearly, this was a high-end set from a fine maker. The radio was originally a six-volt battery set that was a later conversion to AC. The result is one of the best performing and dramatically stable sets which has graced my pages. When you first look at the radio, you admire the fine red mahogany and the detailing of the cabinet. The dial is six inches plus, and multicolored in the dark. So, be sure to look at the extra photos, and you will be impressed too. I have added a brand new tuning eye, which is super bright green, with the greatest sensitivity that I have ever seen. The radio sports seven tubes and represents one of the finest radios from this era, which I have offered for sale. 20"H x 15-3/4"W x 11-1/2"D.
