THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
Here is one of the rarest sets you will ever seen for sale. The company was a small family owned piano maker who branched out into making radios. In the beginning of the depression, piano sales were declining like the economy. Money was dear. Listening to a radio at home replaced many recreational activities, and here was a fine attempt to survive the depression. Jesse French made very fine Pianos and brought the artisanship into making some of the finest cabinets ever made. The radio is an early ac set, and is a "TRF," so it is a little more primitive to the later superhets. The radio is restored and plays very well for a set of this type and age. The radio is a large one, making it a "Grand Cathedral" at 19-1/2"H x 15-1/2"W x 11"D. The large cabinet gives the radio an especially good sound quality. This is a great set, and a really blue chip set that is NEVER offered for sale! |
