THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
This is a wonderfully unique and quirky designed table set that is an excellent example of the mid-century Eames movement and fits very well in any modern display. It usually sports the Trav-Ler name--the CBS brand is more elusive. Harder to find still is the green plastic version. This is a slightly darker rich green color than my camera could catch and is solid plastic, not painted. The AM radio is playing well with good selectivity and volume on the local stations with a built-in loop antenna. It was recently serviced by Gary Schneider at Playthings Of The Past. The cosmetic condition is very nice with the original knobs in excellent shape, especially the gold paint on the Mercedes Benz styled tuning knob. These styrene plastic cases normally sport significant deep scratches and often burn marks, but this table set is shiny and reflective with no cracks or chips and just a very tiny fissure mark at the bottom edge screw at upper right of label, which is almost completely intact. The original Masonite back is crisp and complete. A great piece to display and enjoy at any angle. |
