| Five tubes, BCB only. All electrolytic and paper caps replaced, contols cleaned and lubed, cabinet reveneered, new grille cloth. Good sensitivity and selectivity. Solid tuning. Using a large 8" Rola electrodynamic speaker with a 45 power triode gives this set's sound a superior warmth and presence. Loftin-White stands high in the improvement in early radio audio. This set is a real milestone in early radio. The original output transformer was shorted, it is left in place for appearance only, a working transformer was hidden under the chassis. For the afficiando the 80, 24, and the 45 are the older "globe style" tubes. I would lower the price if you settle for newer style tubes. |
