THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
This two-transistor Philmore kit radio is a rare find indeed for the astute transistor collector. Cabinet condition is very good without cracks or chips. The little plastic handle is present on top and in good condition as well. The bottom hinges look to be non-original. Not surprising, as the original plastic hinges were inherently weak and usually found in poor or broken condition. The good news is that a past owner has executed an exceptionally strong repair using what looks like custom fabricated metal hinges. The rear access door now works fine, probably even better than new and it is also perfectly aligned with the front of the case. I originally collected these radios for their shear rarity and uniqueness, so the operating condition was secondary to me. Although the radio remains untested, I can say that after having seen several examples over the years, the chassis does appear to be complete and correct. Nonetheless it's being offered in the same state with which it has been held in my collection for many years now: as a display item only and a rare piece of American radio history! 7-1/2"w x 5-1/2"H x 1-3/4"D. |
