General Electric J55 (1942)
(plastic tube table radio)
General Electric J55 (1942)
SALE!  I offer a quantity discount on my radios (ex: Take any two radios priced at $129 each for $240, shipping is not included). A Bluetooth/MP3 player 3.5mm cord has been installed for another listening option beyond the standard AM broadcasts. You can plug into your device and enjoy the music of your choice through the radio. This is radio is a bit of a mystery. The cabinet is branded as a GE (the original decal and label on the bottom of the cabinet are still mostly intact), yet there is no mention of it in GE's model line-up for 1941 or 42. However it is identical to an Admiral model 52-955! When civilian radios ceased production in early 1942, manufacturers used up what they had available to finish as many new sets as possible. This is a relic from the frantic early days of WW2! It has been recapped, aligned, controls cleaned & lubricated, so it plays loud and strong across the dial with its built-in loop antenna. Cabinet was partially repainted at some point but is an excellent match, nearly undetectable. Really a nice looking, possibly one-of-a-kind radio! 13"W x 8-1/2"H x 8"D.  Was $129.00, now $100.00.
