Emerson CY-288 "Big Strad" w/Ingraham Cabinet (1939)
(wood tube table radio w/SW)

Emerson CY-288 "Big Strad" w/Ingraham Cabinet (1939)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This rare and desirable Emerson "Big Strad" features an Ingraham designed cabinet that is totally unique in its shape. "Strad" is as in the Stradivarius violin, and these don't turn up too often. The last one offered on Radio Attic was in 2013! The original Ingraham label is still on the bottom of the cabinet! It has been in my personal collection for a number of years and only because of space constraints, it's time to let someone else enjoy this beauty. Five tubes plus ballast, it receives AM and Shortwave. Plays strong across the dial with a long wire antenna attached, including some on SW. All electrolytic and paper caps have been replaced, tubes tested strong, controls were cleaned and lubricated. Cabinet was refinished by the previous owner and while not perfect (it has some minor scratches/fine veneer cracking near the bottom that is only visible up close), it still displays very nicely. The top appears to be re-veneered. Original pointed knobs and push-buttons are in great condition. New dial cover and polarized line cord. If you've been wanting one of these for your collection, here's your chance! 17"W x 10-1/2"H x 9"D.
