Lionel 195 (1936)
(wood tube table radio w/SW)

Lionel 195 (1936)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Lionel Train fans take note, here's a Lionel brand radio! Now it's a mystery if the radio actually had anything to do with the train manufacturer, but it remains a rare brand nonetheless. This is the first one like it to appear on Radio Attic. The chassis was made in Chicago, at "Plant A" and was used in several different sets. For reference, it uses a Clinton model 195 schematic. It's a neat little four-tube plus ballast TRF set that receives AM & shortwave. Without AVC, the louder you turn up the volume, the stronger the stations come in. That said it plays well across the AM dial with an external antenna attached. Short wave needs a much longer antenna. The chassis has new filter and paper capacitors, tubes all tested good. Tube sockets cleaned as was the volume control. Tuner was cleaned and lubed for smooth operation. Nice proper cloth line cord. Cabinet was completely refinished using spray toners with some minor wood blemishes remaining. New grille cloth. Original wood back cover! Compact at 10-3/4"W x 8"H x 6-3/4"D.
