Zenith 9-S-232 Walton (1938)
(wood tube tombstone radio w/SW)

Zenith 9-S-232 Walton (1938)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Please read the entire description before contacting me to avoid any misrepresentation. One of the holy grail radios among radio collectors is the Robot/shutter dial 1938 Zenith Walton sets. Dubbed the Walton because this was the radio the Walton family listened to on the popular 1970s TV series. This radio features a nine-tube chassis with motorized tuning housed in a hand made cabinet to the dimensions of an original cabinet. It is not a factory made numbers matching 9S232. Again, the cabinet is a reproduction. The same chassis was used on the 9S262 console (which is where this chassis came out of) as well as the 9S232 Walton set. The power transformer is a replacement. Knobs are reproductions. The speaker is the correct size 8-inch field coil with the proper ohm value but is not from a Zenith. That said, the radio was serviced with new filter and paper caps. Resistors checked, new line cord, cabinet was finished using toners. New correct grille cloth and a bright green magic eye. Plays loud and strong on all bands with a long wire antenna. Motorized tuning works great as does the shutter dial mechanism.
