Zenith 6-D-315 "Wavemagnet" (1940)
(Bakelite tube table radio)

Zenith 6-D-315 "Wavemagnet" (1940)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Designed by industrial designer Robert Budlong, the 6D315 was Zenith's most adventurous styling for a portable radio and was Zenith's first model to use a rear "wavemagnet" antenna attachment. This particular variation was introduced at the start of the 1940 model year (around June 1939) and has the preferred "Wavemagnet" embossed on the front escutcheon (the other earlier variation did not). The Bakelite case is in mint condition with no cracks, hairlines, chips or scratches. The hand polished cabinet, carrying handle, metal escutcheon, dial, dial glass and knobs are all original as is the repainted color-correct back panel. The power cord and plug are correct replacements. The electrolytics have been restored with all capacitors and weak tubes replaced and is picking up all my local stations loud and clear across the AM dial. Simply an excellent example of an iconic radio. Another great radio from my personal, smoke-free collection. About 11"W x 8"H x 9-1/4"D.
