Northern Electric 5508 "Midge" (1951)
(Bakelite tube table radio)

Northern Electric 5508 "Midge" (1951)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This is a gorgeous all-original Northern Electric "Midge" Bullet radio with very cool aerodynamic styling. In the 1950s, Northern Electric was a Canadian manufacturer of consumer electronics and radios. The 5508 "Midge" has a nice streamline bullet cabinet design that clearly is based on the Farnsworth GT-051 design. The Bakelite case is stunningly shiny with no breaks, cracks or hairlines - just a slight wrinkle in the gold foil on the dial. With a five-tube, superheterodyne receiver and built-in loop antenna, it not only looks great, it plays great too. Another great radio from my personal, smoke-free collection. About 11-1/2"W x 6"H x 6"D.
