![]() THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
Stewart-Warner, a Chicago factory, was founded in early 1900's as a speedometer & automobile instrument company. Within a few years they also began manufacturing radios and other products.
This is the largest and finest tombstone radio made by Stewart-Warner. It appears to be original finish & really is a nice piece. The grille cloth is new era correct replacement. The radio is ten-tube count model and it is designed as a three-band receiver. The radio is an outstanding playing set, with great volume and a highly selective tuner with attached wire antenna. It was restored by previous owner replacing all caps, etc. but I did replace one of the two 2A3's as it was a little weak. All I did to the cabinet was "feed" the wood with some Howards Oil. You seriously don't see this model for sale very often. Quite stunning for any/all collections. Factory tag is intact on chassis. 17-1/4"H x 15-1/2"W x 12-1/2"D. |
