Climax AC-65 (1937)

Climax AC-65 (1937)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!
I have had a few Climaxes, but this is only the 2nd one of these I've seen (the other sold here on the Attic end of last year). Quite rare. The Climax Radio and Television Company headquarters was located in Chicago IL. I couldn't find much info on the company, so I don't know when they started business. At some point they merged with General Television. In some books you will find both names on identical sets. This AC-65 is a seven-tube, two-band (AM,SW) radio. It has a beautiful "wrap-around" "waterfall" cabinet with new bright green tuning eye and original backlit oval dial which shows beautifully when on or off. The brass bezels & the piping trim of lighter color really make it pop! This is a recent complete electronic restore and plays well across the dial picking up all my local stations and beyond. The speaker, knobs, dial scale and chassis appear to be original. New repro era correct grille cloth really shows well. Notice the crinkle painted chassis... nice. This rare radio is beautifully restored and is a radio ready for play and display for the most discriminating collector! 18"W x 9"H x 8"D.
