THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
Here is a sweet, Art Deco Airline made for and sold in Montgomery Ward stores circa 1937. The brown/maroon Bakelite case has beautiful molded ornate design on the top. Unusual due to tuning eye in a Bakelite model and the "tele-dial" which is used to preset stations. The case is a one piece molded piece of Bakelite that slides down over the chassis which is mounted on a metal bottom…very unusual & in super nice condition without any cosmetic issues like breaks, cracks or chips, and is very hard to find in this condition. Even the back is also Bakelite. It has a super cool Tele-Dial tuning, and a very bright, good functioning green eye tube. The dial light shows thru the red Tele-Dial which gives it a real presence. The radio is playing clearly, picking up all my local stations. I will include an extended piece of antenna wire to facilitate picking up distant stations at night as well. The chassis is accessed by removing the original knobs and lifting the case off the chassis. This is the nicest example of this model I've ever seen. About 11"W x 7-1/2"H x 6-1/2"D. |
