THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
Beautiful example of this Mid-Century radio designed by the famous industrial designer Raymond Loewy. Great factory color combo of shiny black and maroon grille. This model 517 in black Bakelite is identical to the Emerson model 511. The case is in near mint condition, without scratches, repairs or touchups with a very nice shine. The Emerson logo is very plain on cabinet in front of maroon speaker panel, plus the embossed Emerson Factory is clear below the gold reverse embossed station numerals. Original Plaskon knobs and Plaskon pilot light diffuser, dial, dial cover & metal bottom with factory sticker + even the four factory rubber feet. Beautiful lighted clear dial with gold lettering. The plastic dial cover floats over the metal grille. The dial lamp is hidden in the small plastic piece at the top, and is very dramatic when the set is on. The radio is fiver, unrestored by me but plays very well across the dial picking up all my locals and beyond clearly & loudly. These were offered in several colors including Black Bakelite, brown Bakelite, ivory Plaskon, ivory Plaskon w/gold marbling, green Plaskon w/gold marbling, red Plaskon w/gold marbling. About 10-1/2"W x 7-1/2"H x 6"D. |
