Emerson 321-AW "Oriental Chest" (1934)
(wood other radio)

Emerson 321-AW "Oriental Chest" (1934)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Here we have a somewhat rare & unusual gorgeous Great Depression Radio, known as Oriental Emerson Chest Radio from 1934, working model 321-AW, featuring hand-painted Chinese-style images on the front, sides, and inside each of the doors. Black painted cabinet with Chinese motifs in nice condition; each one was individually hand painted and is unique. The doors open to reveal the loud speaker grille and radio controls. The top has a handle and an illuminated jewel. Original handle, latch, knobs, cloth, tags, etc. The cabinet finish is in over all good original condition, with some marks of age with light fading, and few touchups on gold trim, but overall it is an excellent example of its kind. This is a rare and unusual set. This oriental motif can be found on a number of radios, phonographs, TV's, and furniture items from the 1930's through the 50's, so it was apparently quite popular. The radio has been recapped, resistors changed and tubes replaced where needed (all checked); plays well on the short wire antenna attached, but even better with longer antenna. 10"W x 7-1/2"H x 6"D.
