Silvertone 4204 (1954)
(Plaskon tube table radio w/FM)

Silvertone 4204 (1954)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This mid-century Silvertone eight-tube AM-FM radio has a beautiful red Plaskon cabinet in superb condition, with no cracks, chips, or significant scratches. This not a painted Bakelite. It is Plaskon & looks like poured Catalin with swirls in the material on both top and sides. Not many of these cabinets were made and this particular one is seldom seen. Sorry, I could not capture swirls with camera. It maintains most of the factory schematic tag on the bottom + two full paper labels inside of the cabinet. The transparent dial window is edge lighted when set to AM, giving a nice visual effect under low lighting conditions. When set to FM, the rotating dial/pointer is backlit, with the FM scale illuminated in red along with an "FM" indicator (see dial closeup picture). Performs well on FM with the built-in antenna, but not so well on AM, tho it does play better with longer antenna wire. If you plan to play daily, it may need some “tweaking” on the AM band. All cabinet parts (less replacement grille cloth) appear to be original including the knobs which still have printed "On/Off," "Tuning," and "AM/FM" on the brass "brights." 13-1/2"W x 7"H x 8"D.
