Truetone D-711 (1935)
(wood tube table radio w/SW)

Truetone D-711 (1935)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This elegant Truetone D-711 radio was made by Detrola for Western Auto Supply Co. and this series from the mid thirties has become very popular among collectors The combination of graceful curves, attractive wood grains, and the unique dial makes this Truetone a great radio to add to any collection Beautiful burled walnut cabinet mixed with other walnuts in the true 30's Deco style with wrap-around end & waterfall top and corner speaker with decorative grille cutouts. Radio plays loud and clear on broadcast and shortwave band with short wire antenna. The big radio has eight tubes and three bands: AM, Police (nothing on that band now days) & SW. Very nice bright green eye tube. If you plan to use the pushbuttons pre-sets, you will need to set to set for your locale. This is a recent estate find and someone has done a very nice cabinet restore as you can see in the pics. Not sure about the electronics, but suspect it has also been rebuilt as it plays well with lots of volume across the dial picking up all my locals & beyond. Set maintains the original Rola speaker, knobs, dial, trim etc,. 21"W x 12"H x 9"D and weighs approx. 22 lbs. It will require extra packing for safe shipment.
