Crosley 516 Tombstone (1936)
(wood tube tombstone radio)

Crosley 516 Tombstone (1936)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This radio was the lowest model of Crosley's 1936 radio lineup, yet it was possibly the most stylish set Crosley offered for that year and many other years IMHO. The set was offered with either a gold background dial or a black background dial and two styles of cabinet was offered. This style is the more ornate of the two (gold dial, grille cut-outs, and fluted top), the other being rather plain. Knobs, dial, escutcheon, etc. appear to be original. Grille cloth is period correct replacement. WLW, which was Crosley's own radio station located at 700 kHz on the AM dial (Cincinnati, OH). and the center of the dial features "Two Worlds" globes separated by WLW's Blaw-Knox radio tower. Simply a beautiful dial, especially when lit. Older restore, but plays very well with the attached short antenna wire picking up all my locals and beyond. Clean chassis and just a very nice example of this model. plus won’t take up much room in your display. 11-3/4"H x 10-1/2"W x 7-1/2"D.
