THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
A beautiful mid-century model 54B5 "The Solitaire" radio from 1947 with a fantastic swirled-pattern Catalin case. This Deco-looking set is one of the smallest, iconic four-tube portable radios ever made and includes the original factory box, seven page instruction book + three factory tags inside back lid. I do believe this is the only Catalin portable ever made. The swirled-pattern Catalin cabinet, with no cracks, chips nor repairs is in great shape as well as the rubber handle. Fantastic swirl pattern Catalin case! Simply a beautiful example of this mid-century radio. Shows normal wear for a 75 yr old radio. An excellent example of this wonderful model! Please review all photos as they are part of the description. An on-off switch is located under the top rubber handle. The radio operates from a single 1.5V "D" battery and a 67.5V battery. These batteries are still available. That said, It is currently being sold untested as I do not have the batteries and selling as display. It is obvious the set has never been restored as you can clearly see the old paper caps, etc. 6-1/2"H x 4-1/2"W x 3"D. |
