Emerson 544 (1947)
(wood tube table radio)

Emerson 544 (1947)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This 1947 classic Emerson is a borderline midget set and is rare in that it still has its original photo finish. Most of these sets wore badly and the owner had to strip and refinish. Also all-original are the knobs and labels, dial, cover, etc. This five-tube set has a great backit dial and waterfall top. Recently electronically refurbished and plays very well with great fidelity and sensitivity picking up all my local stations and beyond without any external antenna. Some very minor wear as you would expect from a set that has original finish and nearly 80 years old. This radio was designed by Norman Bel Geddes, who one of America's most prolific industrial designers of the 1930's and 1940's. He designed many table and console radios for both Emerson and Philco, as well as trains, planes and automobiles, etc. A perfect example of one of America's great post-War designers and a neat, classic radio from Mid-Century. About 11"W x 8"H x 5-1/2"D.
