| Very Art Deco by Philco called the "Hippo" in collector circles. Neat curved, clear lighted (gold, brown/burgundy) dial window and two top mounted knobs on either side appears as a half submerged hippopotamus supposedly. Still in excellent cosmetic condition (six-tuber single BC band and working condition, picking up all my local stations and beyond). Dial lights up brightly and the pilot light follows the pointer (shown in 2nd pic)...very cool. No cracks, chips, splits, repairs and very shiny Bakelite cabinet! It does have the loop antenna attached to cabinet as it should be. This radio is over 70 years old! All the dial numbering and lettering is crisp and clear. Philco manufacturer logo is 100% intact as is the factory sticker on bottom. The power cord appears brand new replacement in perfect working condition with no cracks, or splits or repair. Many of these models have missing backs due to screwy design of holding clips which are near impossible to find and not being reproduced and this unit is no exception, thus this is a custom made/attached back that looks/functions well. Nice clean chassis. Weighs 7 lbs. Made in USA. 12"W x 7-1/2"H x 6-1/2"D. |
