This classic is one of my all time Philco favorites. The "Baby Grand" was Philco's first cathedral radio and was the first in a successful line of cathedral sets starting in 1930. This set which is a seven-tuber has become known in today's collector circles as the Model 20 Deluxe. It's a Deluxe is a dressed up version of the Philco 20, with fluted columns added along with curly maple arches. These dress-up features make the Deluxe a more "sleek" design and more of an eye catcher. "Deluxe" is not overstated on this classic beauty and it's 90 years old! This is a very nice player, and has had a complete electronic restoration. Additionally, it has perfect grille cloth, original knobs, dial and escutcheon and original speaker and Bakelite plug. The chassis is very clean and rust free as is the tri-tube shield. Complete factory sticker on chassis as you can clearly see. Also please take note of the globe tubes which are a nice plus. Sorry for the blur (glare) on the front closeup photo as it is not a flaw. This set originally sold for $49.50 new less tubes, a lot of money for that time. 17-1/2"H x 15"W. |
