Echophone S-3 Cathedral (1930)
(wood tube cathedral radio)

Echophone S-3 Cathedral (1930)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Here we have one of the nicest examples of this West Coast radio I have ever seen. It was manufactured in L.A. in 1930 and later the next year operations were moved to Chicago. In later years the company was purchased/merged into Hallicrafters. It appears all original to me. The rounded top with Gothic arched cabinet is simply flawless, including the Deco wood grille and the chassis is very clean as you can well see. The beautiful brass escutcheon maintains strong patina yet shows of a very ornate design with globe and thumb drive wheel tuning. This is a five-tube set (80, 3 x 24's, and a 45), un-restored, but plays well with short wire antenna. About 17"H x 14"W x 7"D.
