| This Sentinel is a six-tube two-band superheterodyne design, and was manufactured in 1946 or 1947. The beautifully designed wood cabinet is not perfect. It has some scuffs and scratches it has picked up in 70 years, but it was too nice to refinish in my estimation. The electronics have been completely and properly serviced. All electrolytic and film capacitors have been replaced. All out of tolerance resistors were replaced. All tubes were tested. Any tubes that were anything less than very good were replaced. The power cord has been replaced with a new polarized cord. The radio has been given a proper alignment to factory specifications. This radio is ready for daily use, both on the Standard Broadcast and Shortwave bands. The RF stage in the front end makes this radio a very sensitive performer, especially when (optionally) an external antenna is connected. This would be a fun radio for "DX" listening at night. |
