Coca-Cola Cooler Radio 5A410A (1949)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Here is a Coca-Cola "Cooler" radio made by the Point Of Purchase Company for Coca-Cola (Coke) in 1949. For this radio, I wanted to do something a little different than the standard solid red that is quite common. This restoration was modeled after a Coca-Cola cooler with the white front and red letters (see photos). This color combo was quite a challenge, but I think it turned out to be a great display piece. It is one of my favorites. The paint (painted with auto paint and a clear coat) is not perfect, but there is a lot of detail work that makes the radio stand out. There are some minor hairline cracks around the grille area. The small letters are vinyl. The white color is a vintage Wimbledon White and the red is a Dodge Coca-Cola red. General repairs include replacing all capacitors, some resistors and a new cloth covered power cord. The cloth covered power cord is not time period accurate, but I personally like them better than the standard power cords. The radio is an AA5 with octal tubes and is in good working order.
