THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
This is a five-tube Grunow. It is a nice looking set and performs probably as good as new. It has no AVC and is a very basic superhet. It covers AM and shortwave, but the shortwave uses tapped coils and is not sensitive. A.M. is sensitive but can be overloaded. The good news is it is transformer operated with a MASSIVE power transformer, and has been rebuilt electrically. There is a defect in the dial. It appears someone had put the wrong lamp in at some time and melted a hole in the dial. Someone patched it and hand drew the missing letters. There is a horizontal crack where the cabinet wood bends over the top and one knob is black, not brown. For a 1937 low budget set, it is fine. I basically want to cover the parts cost, so it's a deal! Schematic included; all tubes are first rate! |
