Federal DX-Type 58
(wood tube casket radio)

Federal DX-Type 58

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This is an extremely nice example of the DX-Type 58. The front panel is free of cracks, significant scratches and extra holes, and all the knobs are original. Even the original nickel plated brass screws are holding the front panel into place. The metal cabinet is complete with the original hatch cover and has only minor scratches. It needs a little work to replace some of the white in the etched lettering. There is a process for doing this which I have never tried. The chassis is complete (less tubes) with all the original components and is free of corrosion. One of the 226-B audio transformers is good and the other is open. This I understand is usually the case with this radio. I believe there is a procedure for hiding a simple circuit to bypass the bad audio. In my opinion it would ruin the radio to replace the transformer with anything but the correct one. This is a beautiful radio which would add to any collection. I am only selling it because I have two of this model.
