Atwater Kent 165 Cathedral
(wood tube cathedral radio)

Atwater Kent 165 Cathedral

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Appearance of this little Atwater Kent cathedral is about as good as it gets. Cabinet, chassis and speaker look beautiful. Grille cloth and knobs appear to be original. Cabinet is solid and has the paper label inside. Radio plays quite well considering that very little has been done to it over the years. Under the chassis the only evidence of repair I can find is replacement of one filter cap and that appears to have happened many years ago. Above the chassis someone tied modern red and blue wires to the antenna coil and brought out a black ground wire. Power cord is original and in good shape. Needless to say, the chassis could use some electrical repairs. Some of the wiring is brittle with the covering falling off and needs replacement. Also I am sure there are capacitors that need replacement. The tone control is noisy and has to be adjusted just right to make the radio play. Here is a chance to start with a beautiful radio in nearly original condition and do the electrical restoration "your way."
