Atwater Kent 185A Tombstone (1934)
(wood tube tombstone radio)

Atwater Kent 185A Tombstone (1934)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This Atwater Kent tombstone is one of the most sought after radios of the early 1930s due to its dramatic styling and use of contrasting wood veneers, metal inlays and incorporation of black trim. This example is in nice original condition, with no problems with the wood veneer: no chips, cracks or missing pieces. The chrome and brass inlays are in good condition. This set has not been refinished, but it looks like the black trim has been touched up/redone. Original knobs. Dial looks good and the decals on the front are intact. It has a cool NRA (National Recovery Act) Eagle sticker on the chassis. The original cord is bad. I plugged it in, but it wouldn't light up. I can't tell much about the chassis other than it's pretty dirty. I don't know if it was ever worked on. There is some tape on a couple wires (you might be able to see in picture). It is a heavy set, about twenty pounds. Shipping will be based on final destination. Dimensions: 15-1/2"H x 12"W x 7-1/2"D.
