Federal 61 Receiver
(wood tube casket radio)

Federal 61 Receiver

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This very nice Federal 61 was the flagship for Federal and had six tubes! It boasts one to three stages of RF amplification, allowing it to be used with a long wire or indoor loop antenna. I have two of these incredible receivers and really only need one so am selling the other. However, they work so well that it was a tough decision. I've got quite a few high end battery sets and this one outperforms all of them! You can choose between three levels of audio amplification and powering a horn is no problem. There are enough controls on the receiver to let you optimize whatever situation you face. My favorite battery set by far! The mahogany cabinet has a nice rich tone and is not crusted and crazed like many of them. The top has the usual scratches from stuff being on it and there is a single dent in the middle of the right side that is deepish. However, the finish on this cabinet is better than on most big Federals I have encountered. I searched and finally found the correct black cotton bungee cord for the tube sub-chassis suspension so it is vibration damped. The original label is on the underside of the lid and all internal components are in good order. All the correct RF filters are good and in place. The radio comes with six good tubes and works great! It is a big and heavy unit so it won't be cheap to ship. I will not pack it any way but properly, as such a gem deserves to arrive in the same condition it was sent.
