Zenith 12-S-374 Console (1938/39)
(wood tube console radio)

Zenith 12-S-374 Console (1938/39)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Yes, a 12-S-374. Bryant and Cones book, Zenith the glory years, this model has a cryptic one line entry, with no picture or count known for how many were produced. Further reading reveals that of all the serial numbered 1938 1204 12-tube chassis, there is a mystery batch of 230, of which serial sequence this unit is part of. It looks like a hybrid of the 9-S-367 (1939), but it in fact has only styling similarities. The cabinet has a bottom, and a different louver layout at the bottom. In all respects, it's a 1938 1204 console radio, complete with acoustic adapter so familiar to us all. The cabinet does have the familiar white stencil for model number, and the paper tag is there, but not complete. John and Jean Goller restored and documented just one example, and this is only the second I know of. Restored inside and out, with the exception of the original Zenith blue paint on the interior, which highlight the factory original state. 90 day warranty on the electrical work, with a NOS JAN 6E5 eye tube. My thanks to the Gollers for the research. 44"H x 28"W x 16"D.
