That's correct, 8-S-137. Zenith offered this Zephyr in a six- and seven-tube version in 1937, with an unknown but undoubtedly very small number of the eight-tube export version. The export versions in general provided the ability to choose the voltage of the line current, thereby being able to be sold in Europe, and other other markets where the standard was other than 110 volts. They are also unique in having both an extra heavy duty transformer and the use of a non Zenith speaker, in this case a Jensen. A very rare bird, perhaps one or two existing besides this one. The radio has been refinished with every effort to produce fidelity to its original state. Satin finish, complete electrical restoration with our 90 day warranty. You have a choice of bezels, the lightly cleaned one you see here, and an untouched original. I hesitate to offer this, but the new owner of this historical piece may have an iPod® dock installed for an additional $75 (not added to the chassis as usual, but in such a way as to not disturb its originality). So there you go. Classic design mated with extreme scarcity. You will not likely see another. Large at 24"H x 19"W x 13"D. |
