THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
Offered is this red and gold painted four-tube Air King from the late 1930s. The set has been electronically restored and plays. As with all these early sets, this one will require an external antenna to pick up more than local stations. This painted wooden radio has an Oriental-like design and color scheme, indicative of its late 1930s vintage, when Asian themes were at their peak design-wise. The set is equipped with its original resistence line cord and has four tubes: 43, 25Z5, 6D6, and 6C6. Some experts suggest the unique dial scale indicates this set was manufactured by Air King for a large-purchase third party requesting uniqueness in design such as a large furniture company. The set resembles a model 100. Either way, a very unique and scarce radio. |
